Death of Long Time Park Resident Rosemary Oathout, of the Park, died on April    24 after a long struggle with cancer. Rosemary was one of the very long term residents who was actively involved in our neigh- borhood. She volunteered with the Friends of Prospect Park & the Rensselaer County Historical Society, was a dedicated Park newsletter carrier for many years & tended to several feral cats who frequented her porch for treats. A skier, world traveler, hiker, avid fan of music, Rosemary was a gentle presence in our neighborhood. Our condolences to her extended family.

Dedication of Historic Marker On Friday, April 26, an historic marker at the corner of 1st & Adams was dedicated to the Troy Bell Foundry. This was made possible by a 2018 NIP grant, in partnership with Riverside Neighborhood & the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway. In addition, private funding was also contributed by Best Fire, Inc. & the developers of 10 River Street. Mayor Madden spoke about the significance of noting Troy history. County Executive Steve MacLaughlin spoke briefly. E. Stewart & Kimberly Jones were present in recognition of the original establishment of the Troy Bell Foundry by Eber Jones, great- great-grandfather of E. Stewart Jones. The bell chimes in the St. John’s belfry were forged by the Meneely Bell Company of West Troy and were played at the beginning of the event by Andrew Mace.

The Graduate The Park’s Peter Hamlin has completed his 5 year engineering program at Northeastern University. Peter studied abroad for a semester as well as internships through- out the country. Proud parents Laura & Garrett are thrilled to be paying only one tuition bill next semester, for son David. Congrats to Peter!
