Kunstler will sign his new novel, World Made By Hand.
Kunstler is a Saratoga author /social critic known for his book The Geography of Nowhere, a history of suburbia/urban development in the US. In his most recent non-fiction book, The Long Emergency, he argues that declining oil production is likely to result in the end of industrialized society and force Americans to live in localized, agrarian communities. ESDC Activities for Winter/Spring
Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company (ESDC) schedule of activities for the winter/ spring: multiple area concerts, premiere of new works, arts-in-education projects, a series of classes & annual fundraising event are on tap for the company in its 17th season..
Sat, May 3 at 8pm. In its annual spring performance at The Egg, ESDC will present an evening of dance & music highlighted by two premieres and multiple guest artists. Featured will be Compas to flamenco rhythms enticingly infused with a surprising array of jazz and funk played live by guitarist Maria Zemantauski, cellist Monica Wilson-Roach, percussionist Brian Melick.

Annual Fundraising Event: ESDC annual fundraiser Sat, May 3. This year’s event will be different than in the past as it will be held at the NYS Museum prior to the perfor-mance at The Egg. Gala event is entitled Mostly Latin; includes cocktails/hors d'oeuvres as well as admission to the Museum’s “Highlights of Latin American Art from the Collection of The Museum of Modern Art” exhibit and ESDC’s concert at The Egg. ESDC
Classes: Stretch & Strengthen classes on Tuesday from 8:30-9:45am & on Saturday from 9-10:15am in Troy. Taught by Ellen Sinopoli, classes consist of isometric strengthening and passive stretching exercises. No dance experience is needed; bringing a floor mat recommended. 5 classes for $40 or $10 per class. Also, company member Claire Jacob-Zysman will teach ballet from 5:30-6:45pm and modern from 7-8:15pm at The Egg on Wednesday evenings. Classes are $12 each. Celebrate Spring with a Book Sale
Troy Public Library holds its Spring Book Sale at The BookCellar (lower level of the Library, 100 Second St) on Saturday, April 5, from 10am to 2 pm. All regularly priced fiction in hard cover, paperback (audio books on cassette as well) available for $1 a bag. Choose from popular fiction, science fiction, mystery, romance, classics and children’s books of fiction. Non-Fiction items – biography, history, travel, arts, self-help - available at regular bargain prices – 50 cents each for hardbound; 25 cents each for soft cover. Great old films on VHS/DVD are 50 cents each; over-sized books are $1 & special priced (hard to find volumes) are $2 and up. Library merchandise – tote bags, sweatshirts, T-shirts, note cards, mugs - also available. The BookCellar, staffed by faithful volunteers, is open each Wednesday, 10 am to 2 pm; and the first Saturday of each month, 10 am to 2 pm (except July & Aug).
